Die Verbreitung von Microformats steigt stetig und ist mitlerweile auch in der deutschen Blogosphere angekommen. Es vergeht im Moment wohl kein Webmontag ohne einen Vortrag über Microformats und nun ist auch ein Artikel von IBM über Microformats auf der IBM Entwickler Plattfrom developerWorks von Jack D. Herrington erschienen, wie man auf Slashdot erfahren konnte.
Titel: “Seperate data and formatting with microformats”
Der Artikel erklärt vor allem sehr gut an konkreten Code Beispielen, wie man Microformate mit PHP parsen kann und geht auch nochmal auf die Vor- und Nachteile von Microformats ein, die ja auch in Deutschland häufig diskutiert werden.
Wer also selbst gerne Applikationen entwickeln möchte, die Microformats auslesen und weiterverarbeiten können, findet hier sicherlich eine tolle Anlaufstelle um loszulegen. Und das ist es ja, worum es geht 
Das ist übrigens das Fazit von Herrington am Ende des Artikels:
Microformats are a pragmatic approach to solving the issue of structured data on the Web. Is it as architecturally pure as XML-encoded data separated from its formatting through a mechanism such as XSLT style sheets? No. But I think this approach is a realistic middle step that will help build a more intelligent Web that is easier to use and provides better search and data integration.
