My OpenID Wishlist and Usage

August 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Social Web, Thoughts

I work right now quite a lot with openID and therefore my wishlist of services which should support an openID login- and I mean login, not provider-only ;) - is growing every day. I wish the following services would have one:

  • Twitter
  • FriendFeed
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Xing
  • Ning
  • MobileMe
  • Slideshare
  • Upcoming
  • Brightkite
  • Amazon
  • Google
  • Youtube
  • Flickr
  • Vimeo
  • … and all the forums I use from time to time.
  • … and all site which let me leave a comment
  • … and all the sites asking to fill out any form

Then my daily online life would be much easier.
Right now I use my openID already for the following services:

  • noserub
  • ma.gnolia
  • PBwiki
  • dopplr
  • mixxt
  • claimID
  • wordpress
  • myvidoop
  • backpack.it
  • highrise

So I would say, that there is still a lot of room for improvements. And dear website providers - look at who all is now (or in the near future) an openID provider … the chicken-egg situation is more or less over, with all those giants becoming openID providers right now.

It’s time to get started with finally implementing openID logins and with teaching the users, how they can use it and what the benefit is :D

What about your blogreaders: Shouldn’t they be able to log in for comments via openID? ;-)

There is a plugin on WordPress for this, unfortuneately it doesn’t work with the software set my blogprovider (Strato AG) provides. So there is no luck for bwl zwei null so far.
